Sir Jeremy has been Chairman of the UNA-UK Board of Directors since February 2011. He was educated at Harrow School and Worcester College, Oxford. From 1966 to 1969 he was an Assistant Master at Eton College. He joined HM Diplomatic Service in 1969 and served until 2004. During this time, he served in the British Embassies in Dubai, Washington DC, Saudi Arabia and Paris. He was British Ambassador to the United Nations from 1998 to 2003, attending over 150 meetings of the UN Security Council and serving as Chairman of the Security Council's Counter-Terrorism Committee from October 2001 to April 2003. He participated in several Security Council missions to Africa to address peacekeeping issues there, including the work of the UN Missions in Sierra Leone and the DRC. From September 2003 to March 2004, Sir Jeremy served as the UK's Special Envoy for Iraq. He was then Director of The Ditchley Foundation (2004-2010) and a Special Adviser to BP plc in the same period. Currently, he is also Chairman of Gatehouse Advisory Partners Ltd (geopolitical specialists) and of Lambert Energy Advisory Ltd (upstream oil and gas). He is a special advisor to the International Rescue Committee-UK and to the NGO Forward Thinking.
