Nick Coghlan

Former Canadian ambassador to South Sudan

After serving two years as Head of the Canadian office in Juba, South Sudan, Nick Coghlan became the first resident Canadian Ambassador to South Sudan in 2014.  He is the author of Far in the Waste Sudan, an account of his earlier posting to Khartoum (Sudan; 2000-2003); of The Saddest Country: On Assignment in Colombia, and of Winter in Fireland: a Patagonian Sailing Adventure.  Nick retired in July 2016; he and his wife Jenny are currently sailing on their 27ft sailboat in Alaska.
