Stephen Barter Research Fellow for the Oxford Programme for the Future of Cities
Michele Acuto is Stephen Barter Fellow of the Oxford Programme for the Future of Cities in the Institute for Science, Innovation and Society (InSIS) at the University of Oxford, and Fellow of the Center on Public Diplomacy at the University of Southern California. Michele specializes in diplomacy, global governance, and urban studies. He has been contributing editor for the Diplomatic Courier since 2008, is editor of Negotiating Relief (Hurst) and author of The Urban Link (Routledge). Previously, he taught sociology at the University of Canberra, served as JPO for the International Campaign to Ban Landmines, independent consultant on the Kimberley Process on conflict diamonds, and has held visiting positions at the National University of Singapore's Asia Research Institute and Cities Cluster, as well as at the Institute of International and European Affairs in Dublin. He holds a BA in Diplomacy from the University of Genoa, a Master of International Affairs from the Australian National University (ANU) and the Peace Research Institute in Oslo (PRIO), as well as Master of Diplomacy and a PhD in Diplomacy also from the ANU.
