Head of public policy, Oxfam Canada
Mark Fried is head of public policy at Oxfam Canada and a literary translator with ten books of fiction and non-fiction in print. Mr. Fried has written and edited numerous Oxfam International reports, and currently directs the OI discussion paper series on global food security. He was editor of the 2008 Oxfam book From Poverty to Power, How Active Citizens and Effective States Can Change the World. He is a frequent commentator on humanitarian and development issues related to aid, trade and conflict, serving on Oxfam International’s policy team at WTO, G8 and G20 summits since 2003. He is often called to serve as an expert witness before Parliamentary committees. Mr. Fried holds a Master of Arts in political science from National Autonomous University of Mexico.
