Frank Elbers is a Beirut-based independent journalist and researcher specialized in human rights, migration and displacement. He is currently also a visiting fellow at the Institute for Women's Studies in the Arab World at Lebanese American University (LAU), where he teaches courses on gender and human rights for humanitarian workers. A political scientist and journalist by training, he has worked in human rights, transitional justice and international development in post-communist Eastern Europe and the Middle East and North Africa over the past 25 years. He has published academically on political extremism, migration, gender equality, citizenship and human rights. His news stories and commentary have appeared in CBC News, National Post, Dallas Morning News, Deutsche Welle, taz (both Germany), and De Volkskrant (Netherlands).
