Emily Paddon is a Lecturer and Trudeau Scholar at the University of Oxford. Her research focuses on the United Nations, the politics of intervention and civilian protection in Africa. She is Deputy Director of the Rift Valley Institute Great Lakes Course and co-founder of the Oxford Central Africa Forum (OCAF). She has conducted field research in Central Africa including projects for the Canadian Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade, the Australian Government, the Danish Refugee Council and the Oxford Refugee Studies Centre. In addition, she has worked for Oxford Analytica, the International Crisis Group, the Watson Institute for International Relations and Goldman Sachs. She is a former Action Canada and Sauve Scholar, and a recipient of the Canadian Security and Defence Doctoral Fellowship.
